The seed is a first generation seed orchard. The source is originally the Balsam Mountains, NC, the top 10% of the trees at 8 foot tall were selected for the orchard, which was started in 1978. It is a fast growing tree and has been in production for 20 years. This seed has been yeilding 90% Number 1 Christmas trees.
